Annual need: $ 20,000

The Purdue University Center for Cancer Research organized the Prostate Cancer Discovery Group to bring together scientists and clinicians from many fields to better enable studies on important issues in prostate cancer. The integration of scientists with broad research specialties brings diverse abilities together, which greatly enhances our ability to understand prostate cancer and ultimately develop better ways to detect, image and treat the disease. In addition, the discovery group anticipates recruitment of scientists with interest but not currently focusing research efforts in prostate cancer. The incorporation of interdisciplinary interests in prostate cancer will lend new insight into cancer-related problems and lead to the discovery and delivery of new solutions.

The Center for Cancer Research is partnering with the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center to focus on prostate cancer. Their work together has resulted in the start of a first-in-man clinical trial targeting prostate cancer.  Read about more results here.
