Erina Mac George, Associate Professor of Communication
My current breast cancer reserach is focued on improving the recuritment campaign for donations of healthy breast tissue to the Susan G. Komen for the cure Tissue Bank at the IU simon Cancer Care Center. My research team has recently conducted two post-donation survey's, which focus on how donors were recruited, their motivations for participation, their concerns and their experience with the biopsy procedure. This data is a first step in designing a more extensive and effective donation campaign. In February 2010, I received Purdue's Study in a Second Discipline Fellowship Award for 2010-2011. With support from this award, I will be studying the science of preventing and treating breast cancer, in order to work on research initiatives that require a combination of communication expertise and knowledge about the fight against breast cancer.
