Cheryl Cooky, Assistant Professor of Health and Kinesiology
Currently, I've been working with the Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure on several research projects in an advisory capacity. We presented data from our report on incidence and mortality in Orange Country at the Era of Hope Conference. (2008) I am a young breast cancer survivor and am interested in psycho-social issues of young survivors, the role of sports/physical activity for breast cancer survivors, sport/physical activity and prevention, etc. My research methods expertise is in qualitative methods, specifically ethnography and interviews. My interest in breast cancer research would be a new line of research but builds upon prior areas of expertise on gender, sport and qualitative methods.
