David Colby, Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemisry & Molecular Pharmacy

Dr. Colby is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry & Molecular Pharmacology. His lab seeks to use natural products as potential leads for drug discovery in drug-resistant cancer.  Natural products have traditionally provided a rich source of drugs for many diseases, including cancer.  Dr. Colby's lab has identified derivatives of natural products with potential applications in breast cancers, specifically blending the science of medicinal chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry in order to selectively modify the complex structure of natural products, and simultaneously understand the effects on biological activity.
